Bern is a very underrated city, and we really feel like it was a great place in Switzerland to visit, to see another side of the well known winter sport country. It's Switzerland's capital so there are a fair few things to do here that we didn't get a chance to do from museums and zoos to great night life but here are a few of our top things to do here.
River Aare

The River Aare is the main river that flows through the city, there are many walks to do along the river or even when the sun comes out you can even swim in the water or if you fancy it you can raft down here. Either side of the Aare, you will find the old town looking over you from a high ground, it's a truly spectacular view from either side of this river.
Bärengraben

If you, like us, have never seen a bear, then this place is somewhere you cannot miss upon your visit to Bern. Located on the bank of the River Aare, on a hill you will find a small bear enclosure with (when we went) 3 bears. As you can see from the image above you can get very close to the bears, and it really is just mesmerizing.
Zytglogge

As you wander through the old town streets of Bern, you will find yourself stumbling across many stunning buildings, just like this Clock Tower. It is the landmark of the city of Bern and on the hour, many people gather in front of the Clock Tower to watch the clock mechanism from the 16th century perform its unique spectacle. You can even enter inside the building for a tour of the inside of the clock.
