There are many things to do in this busy, historic city, we have handpicked some of our favourites that we believe you MUST do!

Colosseum

Of course, we do not have to explain to you what this historic building is, but I do want to explain how cheap the tickets are to view it from the inside. We were pleasantly surprised at how cheap the ticket entrance fee was, due to this being such a well known monument, we thought it would be more expensive, however it's just 12 euros for the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. So not only is this a monument you just have to see from inside and out, it's cheap to do so, so what is your excuse not to go?

We had a great time exploring the Colosseum, read more here.

Roman Forum

Some of you may just appreciate this place from above, but until you purchase to the Colosseum and realise you can also enter here for free with the ticket, well why wouldn't you have a look around? Once you enter, you will be amazed at how much more there is to see than meets the eye from outside these ruins. You could wander for hours on end and you would continue stumbling upon something new. It's a must see attraction, we are so thankful our Colosseum tickets came with this too, otherwise we wouldn't have even debated visiting here. So don't miss out like we nearly did!

We loved wandering around the Forum, read our experience here.

Trevi Fountain

One of the things on my bucket list, was to visit Rome and make a wish in the Trevi Fountain, now that's ticked off! It's not only a place where you can make wishes, it's a beautiful monument in central Rome, even if you are not looking out for it, chances are you will stumble across it in amongst the old town cobbled streets. Do not let the business of the fountain put you off, go and make your wish, after all it could come true!

See us throw our coins into the fountain here.

Spanish Steps

Although we were gutted to have come to Rome, whilst the steps were having work done on them, it really was a lovely sight to see them completely tourist free so we could get a perfectly clear snap of the famous steps. Come and see for yourself, you may be lucky like we were or you may even get a chance to walk up them!

Read our story of the steps, here.

Pantheon

The Roman Pantheon is the most preserved building from Ancient Rome. On the side of the building, the brick stamps reveal that it was built between A.D 118 - 125. This is a beautiful building that is buzzing with history and if you come to Rome, you must come and see this building, after all it is the most preserved building in Rome and that is including the Colosseum. The inside and outside are equally as amazing, on the inside you can see a beam of light that fills the room.

Altare della Patria

This building is one of the most beautiful that we have ever seen, it stands out so well with it's white marble exterior look, every inch of this building is like a mirror image of the other side, it was so perfectly built. There is something so majestic about a building that stands so brightly with beauty in an area filled with old town ruins and old cobbled streets from Ancient times.

See our day at the Pantheon and Altare della Patria here.

Frigidarium

Although this is not a monument, we believe it should be. Who doesn't love ice cream? This ice cream is the best we have ever tried, with all sorts of different flavours and to top it off, you can coat your ice cream with melted chocolate... Dreamy! Come and try for yourself, stand in line in the queue, it's worth the wait!
