We have been away from home for a few months now, but we will not forget our favourite pubs in our local county! We would like to share with you some of our all time favourite pubs, if you have never been to Hampshire or even the UK, but you enjoy a nice beverage in a pub garden, I'm sure we can convince you with this list, to venture to the South! You will see a common theme of our favourite pubs...

The Mailmans Arms, Lyndhurst

If you come to the New Forest, you must visit Lyndhurst and come to the Mailmans Arms. Enjoy a nice cold pint of beer in either the front or rear garden on a warm summers afternoon or tuck into a traditional English Sunday roast carvery on a cold winters evening. Whichever time of year you choose to visit here, you will not be disappointed!

The Olive Tree, Romsey

The Olive Tree, is a very small, quaint pub that sits in the centre of the small town of Romsey. The old fashioned decor gives the pub a lovely old historic town feel to it, from it's low wooden beams, burning candles inside old wine bottles as centre pieces to tables and old style books placed perfectly to finish the look. Not only is the decoration something to visit this pub for, but the delightful dishes they prepare, this small pub is one to visit if you are ever in the area.

Walnut Tree Farm, Nursling

This pub is located in Nursling, near Southampton, the small area around the pub is not one to come to this exact area for, but for the pub it is. So if you ever visit Southampton, we strongly advise you to venture out to visit this place. This pub is very family friendly, with two small play areas for your children to play in, whilst you can sit inside or outside to enjoy your drinks. Accompany your drink with one of there many traditional English pub food classics, the size of the portions are well worth the money you pay, which is very reasonable! Whilst you may be full up from your main, some of us are very sweet toothed and still feel we can force in that dessert, but here you can Cake-a-way, yes, you can take your pudding in a doggy bag! What more can you ask for in a pub?

The Fighting Cocks, Fordingbridge

The Fighting Cocks is located within the New Forest, so if you want a nice cold beverage after a long walk in the forest, this is one of the many areas within the forest that we highly recommend you come to! Enjoy a nice local ale with a traditional English pub meal whilst sat next to the open log fire in the winter or admire the Forest views in the beer garden whilst your children run around in the outdoor play area.

Cromwell Arms, Romsey

The Cromwell Arms, located on the outer ring of Romsey, is a pub that holds a lot of history for the town. It's name takes inspiration from a bloody battle. During the English Civil War, a bridge just down the river saw the King’s supporters clash with the Roundheads of Oliver Cromwell. Come and visit this country pub with its modern pub garden. It's the perfect spot for alfresco drinks, and it's also available for private hire events, with it's large marquee accommodating up to 200 people for a summer soiree. Come and see this pub for yourself, we promise you won't regret it!

Luzborough, Romsey

If there is one pub in this area that we do truly love, it's this one. The beautiful outside gardens to the old fashioned interior, but the thing that draws us in the most is the food and drink. The meals here are just your standard "pub grub" type of meals, however they are great quality, and even better, they start at £4.99 per meal. So if you fancy a quiet drink and a cheap quality filled meal on the outskirts of a lovely old town, come to the Luzborough.
