It's our last day in Milan so we wanted to make the most of it. There's definitely no shortage of contrast in Milan, with people who are evidently very wealthy walking out of shops with new Rolex's, but also a lot of homelessness and people approaching you on the street trying to sell you things. This may have been the case in other places if we were there around this sort of time, we have missed the busiest season for a long spell of our trip, however now in Italy we're finding it very busy.
The main square is breathtaking in Milan, somewhere you could sit for hours taking everything in, so we came back for another look around today. We don't tend to plan things all that much, so from here we just set out to walk off and get lost in the city to see what we could find.
We stumbled across Sforza Castle, a great piece of Renaissance architecture built here in Milan in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan and at the time was one of Europes biggest citadels. Now, the site is home to a variety of museums and art galleries which are open to the public. We explored around the grounds and stopped by the beautiful fountain outside the front.
It's safe to say that everything in Italy so far had lived up to expectations, the food the people and the sites were all phenomenal - we still have so much of the country to explore!
I definitely recommend exploring the city on foot, get lost in the cobbled streets and you'll find everything you're looking for in this Italian gem.
