On our many journeys up and down the hill entering into Werfenweng, we noticed some beautiful houses, so today we decided to do some more exploring of the area and do a huge walk around the little town and the local area.
The weather was hugely on our side today, bright blue skies all around us, so we could really see the tops of the snow capped mountains. It was really bizarre, that we are approaching into the main part of summer, yet snow is still in the distance here. The hills and mountain scenery still never fail to mesmerize us with their beauty.
Below are just a few images of some examples of the incredible houses there are among the hills, they all have the same sort of style and our all relatively large due to the fact that Austrian's traditionally live in a house with all of their families, with a generation on each level of the home, eldest starting at the bottom.

We were amazed by how well kept the streets and houses were, considering how rough the weather can be here. There were flowers planted up every street, which brightened up the area even when the skies were grey. One thing we did think when wandering around the area is that the postmen must have really strong calves due to the hills they must have to climb up and down just to post a letter through someones door. We have still yet to notice a single piece of litter on the floor, or any leaves from the trees on the floor. It is a really beautiful well kept town, it just feels like a really safe area to be.

We continued walking through the fields and we came to a field with cows, and we heard some jingling as they were walking and then we noticed the bells around their necks. Cows in Austria, traditionally wear these bells around their necks because it's easier to locate them around the mountains if they can hear them.
This time of the year, the town is so quiet due to it being a ski resort area, so it was really lovely to be able to wander around and bump into next to no one along the way, all attractions were very empty but it's a lovely time of year to come if you aren't interested in skiing.
