We had a short lay in after a long and tiring walk around Werfenweng, we had a lovely breakfast, beans on toast, we finally found some regular baked beans! Our hosts had informed us about doing tobogganing down a mountain and of course we were more than excited for this idea, so we are off to do that today.

As we made our way to the train station we quickly worked out the train station we needed, and we soon arrived at our destination of Hallein. Although it was a short ride through the city via a bus that we needed to get to find the right mountain but it was very easy to work out like everything in this country so far. We arrived at the bottom of the mountain and our nerves settled in slowly as we realised how steep and long the drop was from the top to the bottom, it was 2.2km from the top of the toboggan.

We purchased our tickets and made our way to the ski lifts to get us to the top of the mountain to begin our descent. We were given no instructions by the workers on how to get on the ski lift or how to secure it once we got on there, all we were advised was to "GO QUICK" as they pointed to the next ski lift rotating round. We jumped up onto it, well just about, after hitting our legs and managed to grab the bar and pull it down in front of us, we were relieved until we realised how high and how steep this lift was beginning to go... Our stomachs dropped when we turned around to look at the view, it was absolutely amazing, but somehow the thought of our feet now being on the ground at this point was quite unsettling...

We made it to the top and we were relieved to make it up here, the view was just spectacular, you can see this for yourself... I did begin to panic once I saw the toboggan, they didn't look the safest of vehicles to be travelling down a mountain, but at this point I didn't realise they had a break and you could control the speed. Once I got on I was loving it, Charlie was flying ahead of me enjoying the thrill while I played photographer. The view was just incredible, I would do this 1000 times more just to see every angle of the view again!

We had so much fun here today, almost tempting to go back up for a second time but we didn't, there are just so many things to do here and we hope in our next few days we get to make the most of our visit, because Austria is one of our favourites so far!

When you come here, because you really must come to this area of Austria, please go tobogganing down this mountain in Hallein, it really does not disappoint - check the weather first of course!
